Gary De SouzaChief Executive Officer
Gary started his career in marketing and product development of Asset & Commercial Property Finance in Standard Bank and Nedbank. He moved to Citibank South Africa to develop and launch their Asset Finance division. He then joined the executive development team taking Citibank’s commercial banking division to market. Gary joined Rentworks in 2000 (now a First Rand Subsidiary focussed on Structured Corporate technology finance), in the capacity as Operations Director and then as Sales & marketing Director. In 2003 Gary launched BondExcel as joint founding shareholder and Group MD. Prior to its sale in 2008, BondExcel peaked with Home Loan advances in excess of R1.5 billion per month. Journey was founded by Gary after the sale of BondExcel. Gary’s qualifications include Marketing Management and a Masters In Business Administration from University of Witwatersrand Business School.
Jack TrevenaDirector of Business Development
Jack’s career launched in Nedbank group focussed on Asset-based finance. He rose through the ranks to CEO Nedbank Homeloans. During this period of 20 years, Jack gained extensive sales, product, management and banking experience. In 2003, Jack was responsible for co-launching BondExcel, a mortgage origination company, which grew to fourth largest in the industry in four years. Homeloan volumes exceeded R1.5bn per month prior to BondExcel’s sale in 2007 to Finbond Mutual Bank. He was appointed COO: Finbond Group in 2009. In 2010, Jack attended Wits Business School to read a diploma in Business and Executive coaching, a practice which continues to this time. He also pursued other entrepreneurial ventures which were sold to pursue Journey Financial Services. Jack holds a B.Com, MBL and a SEP (Harvard) qualification.
Nikki De SouzaFinancial Director
Jennifer FurterDirector of Customer Relations
Jennifer started her career on the trading floor of Citigroup in London as a Client Service Agent in 2000, and then moved on to become a Sales Trading Assistant for Citi’s Japanese and European desks. Jennifer assisted in the creation of a Customer Relationship Management team for Equity and Fixed Income Middle Office looking after Institutional Asset Managers in Northern Europe, Great Britain and Ireland and was promoted to Vice President. On her return to Cape Town in 2006, Jennifer joined Datacash (an eCommerce company now owned by MasterCard). Jennifer’s roles included Operations Analyst ,Technical Writer and heading up the Data Analyst team. Jennifer joined Journey in 2011 as Account Manager looking after customer relationships and Journey’s strategic relationship with Direct Axis. In her capacity as Account Director Jennifer now has responsibility for Key Account engagements. Jennifer has a BComm (Accounting and Economics) from UCT and a Diploma in Business Analysis from FTI.
